5,280 feet is only the beginning. Located where the Great Plains meet the Rocky Mountains, and now with the James C. Kennedy Mountain Campus adjacent to the Roosevelt National Forest, we embody the spirit of exploration and discovery that defines our region. The University of Denver is a private institution built on exploration through research and collaboration among educators and students, as well as local and global communities. With nationally recognized academic programs, a history of widespread influence, a forward-looking vision for a 21st century education and a deep commitment to promoting inclusion, we open a world of opportunity to students and empower them to make a difference around the world.

Transfer Application Requirements

  • Minimum GPA:
A Competitive GPA: around a 3.0 (B average) or better is our usual expectation. A 3.0 GPA or higher is also considered competitive for merit scholarships.
  • Official Transcripts:
Submit official transcripts from all college-level study attempted at all institutions. If you have completed less than one year of college study (30 semester/45 quarter hours), you must also submit an official high school transcript.
  • SAT Scores:
Academic performance is the most important factor in our admission process. However, we are a test-optional university, and submitting test scores is your choice.
  • Letters of Recommendation:
A teacher, professor, advisor, or employer recommendation is optional.
  • Application Fee:
Pay a $65 non-refundable application fee (check, money order or on-line payments accepted). The fee is nonrefundable, but we accept requests to waive it on a case-by-case basis.
  • Interview:
You can also submit a ZeeMee profile with your application (ZeeMee is a free service designed to help students bring their application to life by highlighting your personal story via photos, videos and text).
  • Associates Degree Required:
An associate's degree does not transfer as a complete whole; we will evaluate each course individually.
  • Other Requirements:
A music audition is required for Music majors. The Daniels College of Business requires a secondary application to pursue a Business major. Students transferring to DU from other institutions must work directly with the Office of Admission.

In order for credits to transfer, you must have achieved a grade of C- (1.7 on a 4-point scale) or better in each course for a class to be considered for transfer of credit.

Maximum of 135 quarter hours (90 semester hours). If you're transferring from a two-year institution: maximum of 96 quarter hours (64 semester hours). You must complete your full senior year at DU to receive a degree (45 quarter hours).
