Established by the SUNY Board of Trustees on June 14, 1966, the State University of New York Institute of Technology at Utica/Rome, now known as Suny Polytechnic Institute, is New York’s public institute of technology. Suny Polytechnic Institute students pursue undergraduate and graduate degrees in technology and professional studies on the Suny Polytechnic Institute campus. Our students come from all over New York, many other states, and more than 20 other nations; a growing number of students also take Suny Polytechnic Institute courses and, in some cases, entire degree programs online.

    Official SAT or ACT scores are NOT required.
  • Letters of Recommendation:
    Letters of recommendation are not required.
  • Application Fee:
    There is a $50 application fee. Submit the SUNY application and the fee will be waived if you are a NY resident with an associate degree from a SUNY or CUNY school.
  • Interview:
    A campus visit and interview is recommended.
  • Associates Degree Required:
    Associate degrees are not required to transfer to SUNY Polytechnic Institute

Transfer Credit Policy

  • Minimum Grade:
    Courses in which students have earned a grade lower than a "C" are evaluated on an individual basis and credit may be awarded at the discretion of the program director.
  • Credits (Min/Max):
    Students may transfer up to 76 lower division credits and up to 18 upper division credits, with the total not to exceed 94 credit hours.
