Transfer Application Requirements

  • Minimum GPA:
    All programs at ISU have specific admission requirements. Visit IllinoisState.edu/Transfer for details. The middle 50% GPA range for admitted students is 2.92–3.7.
  • Official Transcripts:
    Applicants must submit official transcripts from every college they have attended. If they have completed fewer than 24 credit hours, their high school transcript will also be reviewed.
  • SAT Scores:
    Students with fewer than 24 transferable credit hours may also choose to submit SAT or ACT scores, though doing so is optional.
  • Essay:
    Students may submit an academic personal statement as part of their admission application; this is optional.
  • Application Fee:
    $55

Transfer Credit Policy

  • Minimum Grade:
    Illinois State awards transfer credit for courses completed with a grade of D or higher. However, some departments and schools require a grade of C or higher for courses that apply to major requirements.
  • Credits (Min/Max):
    A maximum of 70 semester hours from a two-year institution and 90 semester hours from a four-year institution may be accepted. To earn a bachelor’s degree, students must complete at least 30 credit hours at Illinois State.
