    Transfer students who apply for need-based financial aid are fully considered for grants, loans and work-study. CWRU meets the full demonstrated financial need for all admitted students. Transfer students are automatically considered for merit-based scholarships.

    If you have graduated from high school (or the equivalent) and enrolled in college courses, regardless of whether credit was earned, you can be considered for transfer admission to CWRU.

Transfer Application Requirements

  • Minimum GPA:
    Our admission counselors review each application carefully, taking into consideration your academic background, life experiences and interests. We don’t have a minimum test score or GPA range to gauge your potential for admission, but there are some things that can make you a stronger candidate. Admitted statistics for the middle 50% had an average unweighted GPA of 3.6-4.0.
  • Official Transcripts:
    Once you've finished your first term at CWRU, you will send complete and official transcripts for all your college work for an official credit transfer. Your official high school transcript is also required.
  • SAT Scores:
    Case Western Reserve University is test-optional. However, your standardized test scores are a way to enhance your application. Admitted statistics for the middle 50% had an average SAT total of 1420-1510 or ACT composite of 32-35.
  • Letters of Recommendation:
    Letters of recommendation are an opportunity to add additional context to your application.
  • Essay:
    An essay or personal statement is required.
  • Interview:
    An interview is recommended.
  • Other Requirements:
    An Arts Supplement is required for music majors and those pursuing an Arts Achievement Scholarship in either music or art studio.

Transfer Credit Policy

  • Minimum Grade:
    Credit will be awarded for courses equivalent to those offered by CWRU and completed with a grade of C or better.
  • Credits (Min/Max):
    The minimum number of credits that transfers must complete in residence at CWRU to earn a bachelor's degree is 60.
