Financial Information

• Scholarships and Financial Aid:
  The first step is to apply for a FSA ID. he Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is the next step. Be sure to file the FAFSA as soon as possible after October 1. Defiance College’s priority deadline is April 1. Have a copy of your current tax return and your FSA ID handy to complete the FAFSA. DC's school code is 003041. Scholarships are offered to eligible students and are renewed each year according to established requirements.

Information for Transfer In Students

• Accepts Transfers:
  Transferring is easier than ever at DC! To get started, set up a personalized, virtual appointment. As part of the appointment, you will find out how your credits translate into our 40+ majors and programs with a transfer credit evaluation.
• Credit For Life Experience:
  Credit may be granted for noncollegiate courses, courses in the armed forces, past work experiences, and CLEP/DANTES credit (official documents certifying completion are required).

Transfer Application Requirements

• Minimum GPA:
  To be admitted in good standing, transfer students must have a 2.0 cumulative GPA and be in good academic, financial, and social standing at your previous college(s). If you have attended more than one college or university, all college grade point averages will be reviewed by DC. In addition, your high school credentials will be reviewed.
• Official Transcripts:
  By sending us your official high school transcript and all official college transcripts, we can do a preliminary evaluation.

Transfer Credit Policy

• Minimum Grade:
  Defiance accepts transfer courses provided they are compatible with the College's liberal arts program and the grades are C or higher.
• Credits (Min/Max):
  There is no limit to the amount of credit that can be transferred. However, to earn a degree at Defiance students must complete 30 hours in residence. Transfers must complete 15 hours in the major and 24 hours of upper-level courses at Defiance.
